Degala

September 27, 1956 - July 2, 2005

Degala, artist extraordinaire, passed away last Saturday in a fatal car
accident. Her friends and family are grieved to lose such a wonderful,
kind, and generous hearted woman, and the community has lost a great and
talented soul who participated at so many events, lending her efforts,
upbeat energy, and her smiles.

Many people knew Degala from community events - from the Groove Garden to
the Anon Salon, Health and Harmony, Earthdance, Joshua Tree Festival, and
even the Texas and Utah Regional Burns - and many other fun artsy places
in between - Degala loved community gatherings. However, Degala was
perhaps best known for creating the Temple of Initial Attraction, first
seen at Burning Man in 2003, then at Earthdance and installed for a year
at Eleusis.

She was very talented and left behind many other art pieces,
some of which can seen at Poindexter's house.
Degala is survived by three children, five grandchildren, and countless
friends. It was easy to know and love Degala and her presence will be
dearly missed and never forgotten.

Her family is flying out for a memorial Thursday, July 7, and they would love to meet all
of Degala's friends and experience her community and the love that was
here for her.

They are bringing her ashes, as she asked to have her ashes spread at the
Temple, which is at Poindexter's house. She preminisced her end was
coming soon, only a couple weeks ago, and fortunately left detailed
instructions for her family.

Much love to all,
Mardi Storm

Driving directions:
Mapquest may give confusing directions because some streets
have two names in the same intersection.

Easiest way is to take the Geary/Treat exit on 680. The street is called
Treat on the east side of 680, and is called Geary on the west side.

Turn west onto Geary, follow Geary down the hill to the lights at Buena
Vista/Putnam, and turn right on Putnam.

Follow Putnam to the next lights, and turn left on Oak Park.
Follow Oak Park a block or so past the shopping center to Stevenson on the
right, just past the bicycle crossing sign.

Turn right onto Stevenson, and go three blocks to Collins.
Turn left onto Collins Ct, and go to 130 Collins Ct on the right side of
the cul-de-sac.
