•••••••••••• A NOTE FROM ANON ••••••••••••

The Anon Gallery Space on 9th Street as it has been, is no more.

We have had to vacate the space for a variety of reasons.

We want to thank you - the people who have made it real - for supporting us in that space
for many incredible years and for many even more incredible evenings.

We have had a long and beautiful run and from the begining have dedicated ourselves
to championing the incredible alternative culture of the Bay Area.

We are NOT down and we are NOT going away.
Wherever the emergent pARTy spirit arises, we will be there.

Many new endeavors including a fabulous Sayonara to 9th St. Soiree
await us as well as regualr riot of great events like the How Weird Street Faire
and the 2nd Annual Superhero Street Fair described below.

Stay tuned for other announcements as well via the Anon Mailing List.

Thank you..
- anon

1. CLIMATE THEATER - Through May

The closing of the Anon Gallery means that Climate Theater which has served
that same alternatives spirit will be leaving the 9th street location as well at the end of May.

Founded by Joegh Bullock and Marcia Crosby in 1985, it has been ably captained the last few years
by Jessica Heidt. We will keep you informed as to Climate's and Jessica's next steps.

In the meantime, Climate will continue to offer a full schedule of theater, music and art
in the 9th St. space between now and the end of May.

5. THE MASSIVE WORLDLY TOUR - 5.07.10

WORLDLY presents
Cheb i Sabbah, Mighty Dub Killaz, Janaka Selekta,
DJ Dragonfly, DJ Amar

Friday, May 07, 2010
@ SupperClub
657 Harrison Street/ SF
http://www.supperclub.com

Cheb i Sabbah was born in Algeria of Berber (Amazigh) descent and moved to Paris as a teenager and became a DJ by chance. By the late 1980s, residing in San Francisco, he was internationally pushing boundaries on the dance floor, seeking ways to infuse Asian, Arabic and African sounds into the mix. Then as the “world music” movement unfolded, Cheb i Sabbah took the inspired step of recording traditional and classical musicians from India, Pakistan and Africa, effectively transforming those compositions into sonic landscapes, thus creating a new style of electronic music “composed” by a DJ.

With seven landmark recordings on the Six Degrees Records label, Sabbah remains a DJ at heart,
but he is also something more. “As a DJ you have ears,” says Sabbah, “this is my instrument, you know what
you want to hear on the dance floor or in producing music.”

An innovator in one of the most contemporary musical realms, he is clearly committed to creating new forms.
“But at the same time,” says Sabbah, “the most important focus for me is to keep the musical tradition alive. For example, folk, trance and healing musicians are struggling to make a living and teach the young generations. Once those musicians go, it's over, then what?” As an “Outernational” DJ to defender of ancient traditions, Sabbah is a true musical iconoclast and visionary in the electronica scene.

From the crowded confines of nightclubs to major festivals, Cheb i Sabbah enjoys a worldwide reputation as a magician of the dance floor. On stage he often spins accompanied by live musicians, dancers and massive projected visuals, interwoven and juxtaposed as the spirit moves

There will be something for everyone. The music stages are produced by collaborations of collectives, representing some of the best in the world.

The How Weird Street Faire uses electronic music to bring many different kinds of people together and create a common bond. We have found that dancing knows no boundaries or political affiliation. Music, more than any other form of communication, is able to transcend differences between people. It is through music and art that peace is always possible.

Build it. Bring it. Be it! We at the Do LaB delight in bringing heART to everything we create, and Lightning in a Bottle is our most favorite creation. And we simply cannot put the ART in LIB without YOU!

Our roots are renegade, and we’d never stand in the way of anyone’s expression. If you want to hang a painting or show a sculpture, just set it up in a tree and be kind to the tree. Or build your own wall! Want to host a tea party or lead a parade or rally a flash mob? By all means…go big and make it so! The goal is total art immersion and catching Lightning in a Bottle!

If your piece is large, needs special accommodation by the festival organizers, or if your piece may be dangerous in some way, please send us details using the art submission form: http://lightninginabottle.org/art-application/

Please stay tuned for updates on activities and workshops in the interactive art zone, artists showing in the Lightning in a Bottle Gallery, and for all information on the interactive live art experience benefitting arts and music education in local schools, Lightning in a Paintcan!

11. BURNING MAN '09 Recap

It was a necessary year out there.. for me and for a lot of folks obviously.

The "default" world daily seems ever more the "FAIL" world.

Perhaps that is the way that the story must unfold..
BUT in the face of that, there's nothing to keep us from busting our asses
in joyful effort to craft viable and better alternatives.

So much incredible good work is being done by the PEOPLE. A lot was demonstrated this year
@ BM but also throughout the year everywhere and in so many incredible and humbling ways.

The "work" is now to reach the larger world with the transformative and
creative light of our being & love - this inner light of a thousand suns!
It's Bhagavad-Gita time, kids.. as Neil Girling's photo nicely illustrates.

The peaceful silence of 30,000 people at the Temple Burn on Sunday was "religious,"
irrespective of what you believe or don't believe. In fact, it matters not so much what
you believe, as how you behave. It's in how you treat yourself, the world and other
people that your truth is revealed.

So, let's get busy and make this year "work" - for all the best reasons and in all the best ways.
